Davide Boario, Composer and Music Publisher

Professional Experience:

Publisher at M. Boario Publishing House:

1995 - Present: Relaunched the Publishing House founded in 1923 by my grandfather Massimo Boario, a renowned composer of band music. M. Boario Publishing House remains one of the leading publishers in the field. www.mboario.com

Recognitions:

• Gold Medal from the President of SIAE (1997)
• “Award for Loyalty to Work and Economic Progress” from the President of the Chamber of Commerce of Turin (2007)

Collaborations: M. Boario Publishing House collaborates with the leading composers and transcribers of band music in Italy and with prestigious wind orchestras, including the Fanfare of the Alpine Brigade Taurinense. The CD "Legend" (also distributed by the newspaper "La Stampa" under the title "Fieri Alpini") received official praise from the President of the Republic Giorgio Napolitano. Subsequently, the CD “Voli d’Aquila” was recorded with the Fanfare to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Unification of Italy, with artistic contributions from Ricky Tognazzi and Cecilia Gasdia.

Education:

• Degree in Arts, Music, and Entertainment (DAMS), University of Bologna: Graduated with honors with a thesis in Music Semiotics.
• Student of Maestro Mario Nascimbene, considered by critics as one of the greatest Italian film music composers (Rome, 1990).

Publications and Citations:

• Mentioned as a composer of band music in the latest edition of the “Anesa Dictionary” of Italian music for bands and wind ensembles, Abbm editions.
• Featured in Giacomo Lazzeri's book "The Composers for Bands - The Italian Portrait", Eufonia musical editions.
• Some of his band compositions were analyzed by Stefano Ragni in the book “La Batteria”, "Masso delle Fate" editions in collaboration with "Anbima".
• His compositions are also performed abroad, particularly in France, Yugoslavia, Switzerland, Spain and the United States.

Awards and Recognitions as a Composer of Wind Orchestra

• 2011: Invited to Toulon (France) to receive an award from the "H. Berliotz" Wind Orchestra for the work "1861 The Sons of Liberty", during a concert dedicated to Italian music.
• 2016: Awarded by the Cultural Councillor of Castellamonte (To) in the context of a band festival dedicated to Piedmontese composers.
• 2023: Award from the “Malta Wind Orchestra” for the composition “The Mystery of Malta’s Co-Cathedral” dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Maltese Bands. The event took place in Valletta at St. John's Co-Cathedral during a concert broadcast by Maltese TV, with the presence of the President of the Republic of Malta.

Present as a composer in various events including, "MITO International Festival (historical editions 2011, 2014), "Bacchetta d'Oro" in Fiuggi (2007-2015), Concert Review of the Maggio Fiorentino (2021), Auditorium G. Agnelli in Turin (2020), Third edition of the International Festival "Musica Regina in Villa International Music Festival" (2024), Thirtieth Edition "Festival Lago Maggiore Musica" (2024), Concert Review "Conciertos de la Luna Llena" (2023-2024) at Castillo San Juan de las Aguilas - Spain.

Notable Concert Compositions:

• “Rinascita” performed in Lucca (September 2020) by the Luporini Philharmonic conducted by Giampaolo Lazzeri. Review published in the Gazzetta di Lucca.
• “Quadri Metafisici” performed at the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino (July 2021) by the G. Rossini Philharmonic conducted by Giampaolo Lazzeri. Success with public and critics.
• “1861 The Sons of Liberty” narrated by Ricky Tognazzi, performed by the Fanfare of the Alpine Brigade Taurinense, conducted by Marco Calandri, within the international concert series MITO (2011) on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the Unification of Italy, both in Milan (Royal Palace) and in Turin (Reggia di Venaria). The only composition chosen by the bands in the prestigious National Competition for the “150th Anniversary of the Unification of Italy” organized by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (September 2011).
• “Beyond the Apocalypse” performed in Milan and Turin by the Fanfare of the Alpine Brigade Taurinense, conducted by Marco Calandri, within the international concert series MITO (2014) on the occasion of the celebrations of the Great War.
• "Solemnity" inaugurated at Lingotto, Auditorium "Giovanni Agnelli", by the Fire Brigade Wind Orchestra, greeted with a long applause from the over 1500 attendees. (2019)
• "The Mystery of Malta's Co-Cathedral" performed in Malta in the presence of the President of the Republic. (2023)
• Original music and story of the ballet “The Age of Aquarius” performed in Turin, Teatro San Giuseppe, Teatro Cardinal Massaia, with extensive press coverage (see press review 2022).
• "Adagio in G Minor" in the version for Clarinet and String Orchestra, performed in world premiere in Turin, with great public success. (2024)

Artistic Collaborations:

Co-author of the song “Eagle Feathers” included in the CD “Voli d’Aquila”, interpreted by soprano Cecilia Gasdia.

 Nomination for Music at the 15th Edition of Cartoons on the Bay for the animated series “Mystery After Mystery”, directed by Stefania Raimondi (2010).
Nomination for the Golden Globe for the soundtrack of the film “Cous Cous” (Frankie's Theme), starring Philippe Leroy and Toni Bertorelli, directed by Umberto Spinazzola (1996).

Other original compositions:

      Official documentary on Michelangelo Antonioni “Caro Antonioni” (1995), directed by Gianni Massironi, featuring: Alain Cuny, Monica Vitti, and Sam Shepard, produced and broadcast by Rai Uno and BBC – Arena.
    Documentary "Ramo Secco" by Tonino Debernardi, preserved in the National Museum of Cinema in Turin.
